American Association for State and Local History Conference Scholarship
The American Association for State and Local History will hold its 2013 Annual Meeting September 18 - 21 in Birmingham, AL. AASLH Small Museums Committee is offering $500 scholarships to any AASLH members who are full-time, part-time, paid or volunteer employees of small museums. For more information and applicaiton visit the Small Museums Committee website. The deadline for applications is June 15, 2013.
The Alliance for Global Good’s Innovation Fund
This fund aims to increase nonprofit sustainability by providing venture philanthropy to implement innovations in mission-relevant revenue generating activity. These implementation grants are for medium-sized, US-based nonprofits, working on solving global problems. The Fund provides grants for late-stage financing to move best-in-class plans into operation.
The application deadline is May 31.
Innovation Lab for Museums Grants
The American Alliance of Museums’ Center for the Future of Museums, EmcArts and MetLife Foundation announce the third round of the Innovation Lab for Museums and are now accepting proposals.
This initiative is designed to enable selected museums to design, research and prototype innovations, testing novel approaches to field-wide challenges in a laboratory-like setting.
The deadline for Round 3 proposals is June 5.
Target Store Grants for Nonprofits
Target stores support schools and nonprofit organizations that encourage kids to love reading and bring cultural experiences to schools.
Wells Fargo Grants
Wells Fargo supports organizations that work to strengthen communities. First priority is to support programs and organizations whose chief purpose is to benefit low- and moderate-income individuals and families. They look for projects that keep communities strong, diverse, and vibrant.
Wells Fargo makes grants in four primary areas: Community Development, Education, Human services, and Environment. Wells Fargo grants guidelines are available online.
Archives.com Grants
Grants offered from Archives.com to individuals or organizations contributing to the promotion and advancement of family history research and historic preservation. Grant recipient chosen each month.
American Institute for Conservation Grants and Scholarships
Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation (FAIC) offers grants and scholarships in several categories.
NEH Created Equal Grants for Public Programming
To mark the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, the National Endowment for the Humanities has developed a special project as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle.
Up to 500 communities will receive a set of films on Civil Rights history, accompanied by programming resources to guide public conversations, as well as an award of up to $1,200 to support public programming.
The application deadline is extended to May 15, 2013.
Humanities Texas
Humanities Texas grants enable communities throughout the state to develop programs of local interest promoting heritage, culture, and education.
Mini-grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but applications must be received at least six weeks before project promotion begins. Decisions are made within ten business days of an application’s arrival in the Humanities Texas office.
Major grant applications are accepted twice each year. The spring deadline is March 15; the fall deadline is September 15.
Mini-grants
Mini-grants fund up to $1,500 of the costs associated with public humanities programs. These small grants, which are easy to apply for and administer, are particularly appropriate for funding a speaker and/or the rental of a traveling exhibition, including those provided by Humanities Texas.
Major grants for community projects
Major grants for community projects fund comprehensive public programs such as lectures, seminars, and conferences; book and film discussions; interpretive exhibitions and materials; town forums and civic discussions; and teacher workshops. Programs should reflect substantial participation by both humanities scholars and members of the target audience(s).
Major grants for media projects
Major grants for media projects fund film, radio, television, or interactive programming related to the humanities. Applicants may request funds for any phase of the project, including scripting, development, production, post-production, and in some cases, distribution and free public screenings. Humanities scholars should play an integral role in determining the content and approach of the project.
THC History Museum Grant Program
As a result of the 82nd Texas Legislature’s budget reductions, the History Museum Grant Program is suspended for fiscal years 2012–2013. This webpage will be updated when the status of the program changes. All information provided below about this grant program is for informational purposes only.

Who May Apply
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be an organized and permanent nonprofit institution in the state of Texas whose primary mission is to serve as a history museum.
• Have an annual operating budget of $350,000 or less and a primary mission focusing on the preservation and display of cultural history. This does not include archives or natural history, art, science or children's museums.
• Have a staff of at least one person, paid or unpaid, who devotes time primarily to the acquisition, care and exhibition of objects owned or entrusted to the institution.
• Display objects to the public on a regular schedule and be open to the public at least 90 days per year.
• Show due diligence in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Funding Range
Applications may be submitted for up to 50 percent of the project's cost, for a maximum grant amount of $1,000. Museums must provide the remaining 50 percent of the cost in matching funds or a combination of cash and in-kind services (including volunteer hours). Grant funds are payable upon completion of the project as a reimbursement for expenses incurred.
