Texas Historical Commission Logo and Theme

Texas Historical Commission logo

What’s this? It’s the Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) logo! And yes, we’re that excited about it. It symbolizes what you find at the end of every great story –– an exclamation point.

It’s the result of two years of research conducted with the audiences that know us best, but it’s also designed to attract new audiences that may not be as familiar with us as a resource –– for instance, the heritage traveler. It does not replace the State Seal, which will be used for official business and formal designations, such as historical markers.

The spirit of the change is to be attractive and interesting to all our audiences. Our theme, Real Places Telling Real Stories, was created to better communicate the agency’s vision and build stronger support for the importance of preserving Texas’ history. You cannot tell the real stories of our great state without the historic structures, archeological sites and cultural landscapes that are as much a part of those stories as the people who created them. The story of Texas springs to life when you can also experience the actual place where it happened.

Every effort has been made to match the color of the logo to Texas Red, the color of the Texas flag, but we realize the exact color may not be true to the original on everyone’s computer screen. We hope you will look for our logo at historic sites and special places throughout the state.
